While Mitt Romney secured the GOP presidential nomination with his win in Texas yesterday, the more interesting story occurred down ticket, where David Dewhurst failed to secure the party nomination against his upstart rival and Tea Party favorite, Ted Cruz.
Texas is a state of mind, and as John Steinbeck wrote, “It is a mystique closely approximating a religion”. If there are any doubts, we are sure to find out on July 28th when Dewhurst and Cruz square off in the GOP Primary to earn the Senate nomination for general election in November.
